Based on a standard Chicago lot of 25’x125’, this single family home
reflects a modern sensibility of living without sacrificing the warmth
and comfort that is often absent from new construction in Chicago. The
design of the first floor maximizes light and sight lines while retaining
separate and distinct living spaces. A fireplace creates a break between
the living and dining room areas without cutting it off from the rest of
the floor. The gracious entryway is flanked by three large storage closets
and a semi-transparent library.
The library is separated from the dining room by glass and bookshelves and
allows light to pass through from the front of the house to the dining and
living rooms in the center of the floor plan. This plan can be easily
customized to suit families of all different sizes and needs.
