LEAVITT refreshed  -  Master bathroom and basement remodel

Roscoe Village,    Chicago Illinois    Completed 2014

When the owners of this Roscoe Village home had a flood in their basement, they decided to take the time to plan a renovation rather than just patch and paint. After it was clear that the option of rearranging closets and creating new storage would provide them with a much better flow and function the exiting family room of the basement was demolished to make way for a new plan.

A new custom millwork storage unit lines the north wall of the room. The wall space between two windows was extended to accommodate a new flat screen television. Large storage closets were placed symmetrically around the middle lower cabinetry. The large gray porcelain tile floor adds sophistication and interest to the space and provides a perfect background for soft furniture and rugs.

At the same time as the basement work, the Master Bathroom was gutted and renovated. Shower, tub and vanity remained in the same locations but the shower and vanity were replaced with new fixtures, tile, countertops and glass. The toilet was shifted further into the room allowing it to clear the door swing. In its place, a linen closet was built-in to provide much needed storage.

With the help of MPink, the client selected a beautiful and unique granite stone slab that was used on the countertop to the vanity and for the deck of the existing tub. A mosaic stone tile was used as a wainscoting around the room and fills the shower wall to the peak of the ceiling. The materials flow together to create a calm and serene master bathroom.
